Her Story
Wyndolyn Brown is an African Canadian Black woman from a marginalized community in Nova Scotia whose personal journey and professional expertise uniquely qualify her to work with individuals affected by addiction, homelessness, mental health challenges, gender-based violence, and youth in care.
Her lived experience—surviving physiological trauma, physical and sexual violence, human trafficking, addiction, and homelessness—gives her deep empathy and insight into the healing process. Drawing on both her recovery journey and her professional training, Wyndolyn coaches, inspires, educates, and empowers individuals and families through a compassionate, non-judgmental, and harm-reduction approach.
She holds multiple certifications, including:
• Certified Domestic Violence Facilitator
• Certified ASSIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) Facilitator
• Certified Peer Supporter
• Certified Trauma-Informed Coach
• Certified Breathwork & Meditation Facilitator
• Certified Child & Youth Worker
• Certified Supporter of Sexual Violence Survivors (Nova Scotia Department of Community Services)
Professionally, she has extensive frontline experience working with high-risk individuals through the Coverdale Justice Society and her ongoing partnership with the Youth Advocacy Program under the Department of Justice. She is also a graduate of the BLK Women in Excellence 16-week Entrepreneur Cohort program.
In 2022, Wyndolyn founded Empowerment For Hope Society, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting vulnerable children, youth, and women impacted by human trafficking, child exploitation, gender-based violence, and sexual violence. The organization also provides support, referrals, programs, and workshops for those affected by addiction and homelessness.
Her commitment to community service extends beyond her organization. She is a volunteer board member with the Southeastern Community Health Board, serving the Preston Township communities, and a member of the Prison Ministry through Word in Action Ministries International.
Wyndolyn’s work is grounded in confidentiality, cultural awareness, and the belief in meeting people where they are. Her combined lived experience and professional training make her a trusted advocate, collaborator, and leader in the fight against exploitation, violence, and marginalization.
